Called “Operation Fox Hunt”, Anonymous recently announced plans on YouTube (video below) to digitally attack the Fox News website on the anniversary of Guy Fawkes Day. Similar to previous assaults on other Web properties, the planned attack is likely another denial-of-service attack which will make the site unavailable for visitors for an extended period of time on November 5th. Anonymous is also planning to target former Fox News personality Glenn Beck as well as current Fox News representative Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly during “Operation Fox Hunt”. According to Anonymous, reasons for the attack include “ right wing conservative propaganda” and “belittling the occupiers” of the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations.
Previous to this announcement, Anonymous released personal details of NYPD officers after a video was released of a male officer pepper spraying a group of female protesters enclosed behind a barrier. More recently, hackers with Anonymous launched a distributed denial-of-service attack against the Oakland police department’s website after a 24-year-old wounded Marine home from serving two tours in Iraq was critically injured in the Occupy Oakland protest. Police allegedly threw an object that fractured the marine’s skull landing him in the hospital, but he is expected to make a full recovery. Anonymous also started posting personal information of Oakland police officers including email addresses, on-duty schedules, phone numbers and badge numbers. A representative of Anonymous is also offering a $1,000 reward to information leading to the officer that threw the projectile.
Inspiration for Anonymous members, Guy Fawkes is most commonly known to attempting to blow up the House of Lords on November 5 in the year 1605. This story was adapted by Warner Brothers into the popular movie V For Vendetta starring Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman. Anonymous activists have since used the white mask wore by Weaving during the film, both in YouTube videos and during public demonstrations.
News networks mostly make me stick to local newspapers instead.
Study after study shows that it’s 70-80% conservative-leaning – and that’s not including FOX.
make the unemployed work at jails and see if they really like working

Ray, I agree. The language used by FOX to deride the occupiers is deplorable. FOX seems to feel that if you can’t present a valid argument then name calling will suffice!
Leon, I was referring to the language used on this thread.
Too much of this conversation has this hateful rhetoric on both sides. Fox is very guilty of being a corporation pursuing its own best interests complicit with the Republican party in being their echo chamber. Morning News Talking heads spout negative, factoid-based opinions about anything left-leaning including ¨Moderate” Republicans to support the Tea Party they helped to build to help build their own ratings. And then later shows say ¨people¨ are saying something that THEN gets reported as news later on. What tripe! What utter nonsense, and non-news!
@Ray Waisler: I agree that all you do when you use the violent rhetoric (kill this, shoot down that) or imagery (the Obama-zombie-with-a-bullet-hole-in-head) or even the milder-in-comparison ¨bad¨ words as Ray indicated it is to give at least a fair excuse, and in the more extreme cases on either side a great reason people can give for not listening to you.
Occupy appears to be mostly non-violent. It *IS* in-your-face because these days political discourse does not get through to the Senators and Representatives who are in the 1%. The problems of the 99% are not heard or addressed. The discourse itself is biased towards Corporate interests and getting THAT influence out is the key. And THAT is a good reason to support OWS!
I have seen the Occupy Wall Street movement first-hand when filming it for Hofstra Today, the weekly news program. I saw almost every network except Fox News and Fox itself. This might be due to the fact that Fox is controlled and owned by the deplorable Rupert Murdoch’s company, News Corp., just putting it out there.
Put it in reality assholes….left-right who fucking cares this country is in trouble and thats a power fact neither side can
deny. Also someone said kill the protesters and unemployment is solved great idea till you lose your job then lets see how big your mouth is. Fact is people need to put the government in check and take back this great land for ourselves our children and ask our family members who died to keep it safe.end of story

That is what i call, “procrastination”!
Just watching from the outskirts, I can’t help noticing that in the midst of a seemingly intelligent debate, one group uses words like “tool”, “scumbag” in response to disliked opinions while the other side shows restraint and coutesy. Same side calls for the destruction of the opposing viewpoints while the other aspounds the need for freedom of speech even if not their view. HMMMMM……very interesting. Seems one side really can’t contain itself and must show it’s true colors. Seems one side calls for destruction of opposing viewpoints while standing high on the first amendment and crying that their rights are being violated. Seems a little hypocritic…….don’t you think? Just saying.
@Benjamin Kubilus, I would love to see some of those studies you refer to. Can you point me in the right direction please?
Ah yes. “We must stamp out by all means necessary those who oppose freedom of speech.”
Its a sad day when my most trusted news source is Comedy Central. That is all. (Even though I do try to cross check among CNN, Fox and MSNBC, the average of the message usually comes out closest to true.)
