If you weren’t satisfied with Meizu’s 5.5-inch M3 Note, try the M3 Max on for size. The 6-inch phablet is the Chinese company’s latest offering, and the highlight here (other than its size) is a massive 4,100mAh battery. Here’s everything you need to know.

Design and display

There isn’t much of difference between the Meizu M3 Note and the M3 Max — in fact the only exterior difference seems to be the jump in size.  Still, the Meizu M3 Max has a gorgeous iPhone-esque look, with a dedicated home button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor, as well as bottom-firing speakers. The volume rocker is on the top right, with the power button sitting below it. The front features a camera and fairly slim bezels. It’s overall quite minimal, a design trend that continues to the back, as all you’ll find is a simple Meizu logo, a round camera at the top center, and a small flash below it.

The 6-inch size is perfect for multi-tasking, or so the company says, but sadly it only offers up a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Still, a 1080p screen is better for battery life than one with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.”

The M3 Max comes in champagne gold, silver, rose gold, and gray.

Specs and OS

Powering the behemoth of a screen is a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM. It comes packed with 64GB of internal storage and supports an external MicroSD card in case you want to boost your storage space. There’s also a 128GB variant to choose from.

The selfie camera uses the standard 5 megapixels you see on most flagships, but the rear one is packed with 13 megapixels. It’s the same megapixel count on the Meizu M3 Note, but the company has swapped out the sensor for one from Sony. We’ll have to wait to see how it holds up.

But the real treat on the M3 Max is its 4,100mAh battery capacity — it’s actually the same as the one on the M3 Note, which also offered a long-lasting battery. The device comes equipped with mCharge, which allows you to quickly recharge your device in a short time span.

You’ll find the Max runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, though it’s layered heavily with Meizu’s iOS-styled Flyme OS 5.2 skin.

Price and availability

The Meizu M3 Max costs RMB 1,699, which translates to about $250. It’s currently available in several countries in Europe, Asia, and South America, but it’s unclear if we’ll ever see a North American launch.

The full list of countries include: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Vietnam.
