Bargain hunters looking ahead to Black Friday to buy a budget laptop don’t have to wait any longer, as this 14-inch HP Chromebook is already on sale — the latest in a string of recent Best Buy Black Friday deals — with a $170 discount, taking its price down to $129 from its original price of $299.

The HP Chromebook 14, named such as it is powered by Google’s Chrome OS, is a basic laptop that’s more than enough for students and employees who only need to perform basic tasks. This Chromebook already holds good value at its original price of $299, so it’s an even better deal at its discounted price of $129.

The HP Chromebook 14 features a 14-inch multitouch screen with 1366 x 768 HD resolution, which is clear enough for working with documents or watching videos. The laptop is powered by the entry-level, dual-core Intel Celeron processor with 4GB of RAM, which is capable of handling general productivity tasks. It also comes with an HP TrueVision HD webcam and a dual array microphone to enable video meetings.

The main advantage of Chromebooks over traditional laptop, in addition to the generally lower price, is their quick startup and snappy performance because Chrome OS utilizes web-based apps. The reliance on online services is why the HP Chromebook 14 only comes with 32GB of eMMC flash memory, as most of your files will be on cloud storage.

The HP Chromebook 14 is a very portable laptop, as it weighs only 3.4 pounds and is 0.7 of an inch thin. It also has an estimated battery life of just 11 hours, which should be enough juice for you to keep working while on the go.

There’s no shortage of Black Friday laptop deals that you can browse, but Best Buy’s offer for the HP Chromebook 14 is one of the best ones out there right now for a budget laptop. Moving from a traditional laptop to a Chromebook might require an adjustment, but it’s hard to ignore the $170 discount for the HP Chromebook 14, which takes its price down to $129 from $299.

Windows 11 on a laptop

Microsoft is testing a new accessibility feature for Windows 11 called Screen Tint, and it could be one of those small additions that make a surprisingly big difference. Instead of changing your display's color temperature like Night Light, Screen Tint applies a customizable color overlay across the entire screen, making bright displays easier on the eyes during long work or gaming sessions.

Apple blamed memory costs for your price hike. Its proposed solution involves a Pentagon blacklist.
Apple Mac Mini on a Desk

A few days ago, Apple announced an ugly mid-cycle price hike, blaming the worsening-by-the-day memory crisis. According to the Financial Times, the company is now lobbying the government for approval to buy memory chips from a Chinese company.

The company in question is CXMT, a Chinese chipmaker that the Pentagon added to its Chinese Military Company blacklist for alleged ties to the Chinese army.

As iPads get pricier, Motorola’s Pad 70 Pro arrives as a solid option… just not for US buyers yet
Great specs, a stylus in the box, and no US launch date: the Moto Pad 70 Pro sounds both impressive and disappointing.
Computer, Electronics, Laptop

If you don’t know about Apple’s recent price hike, which affected all the products in its lineup except the iPhone and Apple Watch (for now), you’ve got to be living under some sort of a rock. The revision made all the iPads much more expensive.

Motorola, however, has just launched a 13-inch tablet that actually sounds good on paper. It’s called the Moto Pad 70 Pro, and it costs around $440 for the baseline model. The catch, however, is that the device isn’t available in the US yet.
