Old man Bond relives his last 50 years in the upcoming game, 007 Legends

Fifty years ago, a hairy-chested Scot possessing a way with women and a license to kill appeared on screen for the first time and changed cinema forever with his penchant for getting drunk on martinis and dealing out a little violence in the name of the Queen. When Dr. No debuted back in 1962, no one could possibly have seen the cultural impact that the character of James Bond would have on the world. Yet here we are half a century later and the property is still going strong.

The character of Bond actually debuted in 1953 with Ian Fleming’s novel Casino Royale, but it’s been the films that have made the character so memorable and widespread. So to celebrate five decades of Bond, Activision and developer Eurocom have teamed up to offer us 007 Legacy, a game due out this Fall that will feature five of Bond’s classic movies brought together through one storyline. The story will then somehow conclude with a six mission based on the upcoming 23rd film in the series, Skyfall, which hits theaters on November 9.

“To honor 50 years of the world’s top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet,” David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision said via a press release. “Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create an homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game.

How Legends ties the movies together, what movies it draws on, and how Skyfall features in are still unknown. But the game promises plenty of gadgets, weapons, vehicles, and Bond girls.

The title will also bring back the Mi6 Ops Missions that debuted in GoldenEye: Reloaded, where players attempt to complete assigned objectives to score points that rank them on an online leaderboard. The game also states that you will be able to play as one of Bond’s enemies for the first time, and there will be four-player split screen. Odds are Legends will also feature several multiplayer modes along with it.

007 Legends will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360. No release date has been given other than Fall, but a release around the Skyfall debut would make sense.

How to get to Monkey Island in Sea of Thieves
An election poster for guybrush in Sea of Thieves.

Over the course of its many years of updates and expansions, Sea of Thieves has had a few notable crossovers with other pirate franchises. The Pirates of the Caribbean crossover let you team up with the legendary Jack Sparrow, but the Monkey Island content felt like it came out of nowhere. For those unaware, Monkey Island is a series of pirate point-and-click games that were as funny as the puzzles were obscure. Thankfully, you don't have to intuit that you need to combine a cat whisker with a mason jar to bypass a skeleton guard to get to this new content, but it is more challenging than you might think.
