Galaxy AI is coming to more Samsung phones very soon

Samsung is bringing its Galaxy AI technology to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets. This comes just months after the software was revealed with the Galaxy S24 series.

Samsung has begun rolling out Galaxy AI features to anyone with a Galaxy S22 series phone, Galaxy Z Fold 4, or Galaxy Z Flip 4. You will soon be able to download One UI 6.1 to get all of the benefits of Galaxy AI. The update appears to be rolling out in Korea now, suggesting it should hit U.S. devices very soon.

Similarly, Galaxy S21 series, Z Flip 3, and Z Fold 3 owners should also be able to get the update soon, but the Galaxy AI features will be limited to Circle to Search. Nonetheless, it’s still nice to see the AI love making its way to more users.

In addition to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy AI is also available on the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series. These folks were able to download One UI 6.1 with the Galaxy AI update in March.

Galaxy AI comes with several features. Live Translate allows for real-time translations of voice and texts during phone calls. Generative Edit is a photo-editing tool that helps adjust pictures. Chat Assist offers context-aware suggestions and translations. Transcript Assist uses artificial intelligence and Speech-to-Text technology to transcribe, summarize, and translate voice recordings. Lastly, Circle to Search with Google brings gesturing to search, no matter where you are on your Android device.

Samsung had previously announced that its Galaxy AI features would be free until the end of 2025. However, whether users will have to pay for the service from 2026 onward is unclear. As of now, there is no need to worry about it.

Samsung has yet to confirm when exactly Galaxy AI is coming to all of these older devices, but if Korean users are receiving the update now, expect it to be available in the U.S. sooner rather than later.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is getting a much-needed battery upgrade

Battery life on the Galaxy Z Flip series has always been subpar. In fact, we dinged the Galaxy Z Flip 5 for its mediocre battery life in our review, saying: “If I take the Flip 5 off the charger at 7 a.m., it’s not uncommon to have less than 10% battery by 9 p.m. that evening.” We made similar comments about the Z Flip 4 and Z Flip 3, which could only last one day at best and not really a full day at that.

It seems Samsung is finally taking this to heart and is planning on bumping up the battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Flip 6. According to a leak from MySmartPrice, the Z Flip 6 (model number SM-F741U) has passed through Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification, and it will come with a dual cell 1,097mAh battery paired with a 2,790mAh battery, for a total of 3,887mAh (4,000mAh on the marketing material). That’s an increase from the Z Flip 5, which came with a 971mAh cell paired with a 2,620mAh cell, for a total of 3,591mAh that Samsung marketed as 3,700mAh.
