Alongside the FinePix S8400W bridge camera unveiled today, Fujifilm announced a new rugged addition to the XP series. At CES back in January, Fujifilm had announced the XP60, but the new XP200 has some significant updates. For travellers looking for a go-anywhere camera, the XP200’s highlights include an improved 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, redesigned battery door for added protection, Wi-Fi, and a reinforced 5x lens.

The XP200 is waterproof (50 feet), shockproof (6.6 feet), freezeproof (14-degrees Fahrenheit), and dustproof.  The camera’s CMOS sensor uses shift image stabilization, while its internal 5x optical zoom lens (28-140mm) uses Fujifilm’s Intelligent Digital Zoom that the company says it doubles the zoom range to 10x while still offering optimum image quality.

Like the S8400W’s Wi-Fi feature, when connected to a smartphone or tablet via the Fujifilm Camera Application for iOS and Android, users can transfer photos and movies from the XP200 to the smart device, which can then be uploaded to the Web. Users can also connect to a computer via a Wi-Fi router for file transfers or automated backups.

The XP200 has two continuous shooting modes: 10 frames per second at full resolution (max nine frames) and up to 60 fps at small sizes. Fujifilm thinks the camera’s burst mode will be an often-used feature, so there’s a dedicated Burst Mode Button on the top of the camera.

Other features include Full HD video capture at 1080i/60 fps, a bright 3-inch LCD (920K dots) that can be viewed under sunlight, creative effects, and panorama and 3D shooting effects.

The XP200 will be available in May 2013 for $300. It’ll come in black, yellow, blue, and red.

How to remove location data from your iPhone photos
How to transfer photos from an iPhone to an iPhone

We all love making memories, and a great way to collect those memories is to take a quick snap of a gorgeous landscape, a party in full swing, or a particularly incredible meal. The Apple iPhone now also adds a location to your pictures, meaning it can collate those images together into a location-themed album, or show you all the shots you've taken in a specific location. It's a fun little addition, and it's one that adds a lot of personality to the Photos app.
