Bologna Airport won’t have any delays with this Lamborghini Aventador on aircraft taxi duty

Lamborghini Aventador Bologna Airport taxiApparently, supercars aren’t as impractical as we’ve been led to believe.

These automotive works of art are supposed to be able to go fast, look good, and do nothing else. Yet people are putting them to work.

Take the Lamborghini Aventador. It’s already being used as a police car in Dubai (along with a Ferrari FF and Aston Martin One-77, among others) and now it’s being used as a taxi. However, it’s not the kind of taxi you’d expect.

According to AutoEvolution, this checkered Lamborghini is used to guide aircraft at the Bologna Airport as they taxi to and from terminals.

A car might seem insignificant from the cockpit of a 777, but the Aventador will be easy to spot.

As if the sight of a $406,905 supercar rumbling down the tarmac isn’t enough, the Aventador sports flashing lights and decals that say “Follow Me.”

With a 6.5-liter, 691 horsepower V12 and a top speed of 217 mph, the Aventador shouldn’t have any trouble keeping up with taxiing jets. We think this is the perfect use for the Lambo.

Since the Aventador already looks like a grounded fighter plane, airport duty seems very appropriate.

Lamborghini Aventador Bologna Airport taxiLamborghini orchestrated this stunt as part of its ongoing 50th anniversary celebration. The Bologna Airport is just 30 minutes from the company’s Sant’Agata Bolognese headquarters.

The Aventador showed up on May 6, and will continue pacing planes until May 19.

Maybe if other airports followed Bologna’s lead, there would be fewer delayed flights.

What other uses can you think of for the Lamborghini Aventador? Tell us in the comments.

The front three-quarter view of a 2022 Rivian against a rocky backdrop.

Rivian has finally unveiled the R2, its long-awaited attempt at a more affordable electric SUV. The new vehicle may not be available just yet, but fans of Rivian's design aesthetics and feature set are already looking forward to being able to order the new car. The R2 is targeted at being a more affordable take on the electric SUV and will sit alongside the flagship-tier R1S.

Let's get this out of the way right now: The R1S is most likely going to be a better vehicle than the R2. Rivian isn't replacing the R1S with the R2 — it's releasing the R2 as a more affordable alternative, and there will be some compromises when buying the R2 over the R1S.

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N drifting.

We’re finally getting to the fun part of automakers’ methodical quest to replicate their lineups with electric cars.

Performance versions of ordinary cars have been a staple of the auto industry for decades. But while we’ve already seen some variants of EVs boasting more power and more impressive stats — think Tesla Model S Plaid or Lucid Air Sapphire — the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is the first to truly apply that format to an EV.
