Jaguar, at long last, might have struck gold with its all-new F-Type, which stands as its first true sports car since the launch of the E-Type in 1961.
“Half of the first year’s production of the F-Type is already sold,” said global brand director Adrian Hallmark in an Automotive News interview.
Cleverly, Jaguar has positioned the F-Type right in between the Porsche Boxster and the 911, which should attract plenty of first-time Jag owners – up to 90 percent, Jaguar officials hope.
Jaguar anticipates that the F-Type will comprise around 15 to 20 percent of its total annual sales, which it has pegged around the 60,000 mark.
The F-Type has sold so quickly that most buyers who place orders soon won’t likely see their car in 2013 as demand has well outpaced the production schedule.
