As Muse privacy issues raise alarm, Meta is giving it to businesses you probably visit each day

I would think twice before handing my company’s Stripe account to software that already shared a stranger’s home address without asking. However, that is essentially the trust Meta is now asking small business owners for.

On Tuesday, Meta expanded Muse to small businesses, letting owners integrate the AI agent with tools like Shopify and QuickBooks to help them with daily operations.

So what does Muse for small business actually do?

To keep things simple, Muse plugs into the software owners already use. Whether it’s Shopify, Slack, QuickBooks, Stripe, Notion, or Canva, you, as a business owner, can easily integrate Muse into your daily dashboard.

In fact, it can also manage Instagram analytics, Facebook Pages, and Meta’s ad accounts. With that access, the AI agent learns what a business is about, what it sells, what the brand sounds like, how it markets its products, and what customers are asking or saying.

Basically, it’s like hiring a business manager who can help you track and manage the back end without having to teach someone how to do it. Meta’s pitch: “They told us they’re short on hours, not ideas.” While the free version comes with usage limits, a subscription buys more room.

“What needs my attention today, and what can you take off my plate?”

That’s the kind of ask small business owners can now give Muse. Connect the tools you already use to run your business, give Muse a goal, and it gets to work. Nothing publishes, sends, or spends without your… pic.twitter.com/TLNetER7D2

Should small businesses actually trust it with that access?

My skepticism isn’t around what Muse can do. It is surely one of the most useful tools that businesses can integrate into their operations. However, it’s the reputation Muse has built recently.

Plenty of cases have happened where the AI agent did something it wasn’t supposed to. For instance, it once negotiated a Marketplace deal for tech creator Matt Robb and gave a buyer his home address without the creator’s permission.

What followed isn’t important — the buyer showed up at this building at night — but its tendency to get things done with minimal supervision could cause problems. Testers have also caught it reading private messages it wasn’t authorized to see.

Meta says it safeguards user privacy by isolating each AI agent in a dedicated virtual machine, keeping personal data strictly separated from other users and Meta’s advertising network.

Further, to keep the business owner in control, the system requires mandatory human approval before publishing anything (content, messages, or spending money). If that’s enough for you, you might try Muse firsthand to see if it fits your day-to-day operations.

AI agents are acting like rogues and causing a huge headache for US banks
US banks block AI agents over fears they could make unauthorised financial moves
Banking

US banks are facing a new kind of digital headache: artificial intelligence agents attempting to access customer accounts and perform actions that may go beyond what users intended. As AI tools become more capable of navigating websites and carrying out tasks independently, financial institutions are scrambling to prevent them from crossing security boundaries.

According to a report published by Axios on October 22, major US banks have detected third-party AI agents operating inside customer accounts without authorisation. Some agents reportedly appeared to attempt actions independently of user instructions. The banks involved have not publicly detailed every incident, and there is no evidence that the reported activity resulted in widespread theft of customer funds.

Canva enters the AI image generation race with Craft, and it’s thinking beyond pretty pictures

AI can generate all kinds of pretty pictures, but getting it to spell a headline correctly or keep a poster's layout intact can be another story. Canva wants to fix that with Canva Craft, its first in-house image generation model. Rather than focusing primarily on photographs, Craft is designed around the posters, presentations, social media graphics, and other visual content people actually create. The goal is simple: spend less time fixing AI's mistakes and more time making something useful.

Mori might be the cutest AI companion robot yet, and it reacts to you like a pet
The Pokémon-like companion can blink, dance, act shy, and respond to what is happening around it.
OKA Mori The Nature Companion AI Home Robot

With AI progressing so fast, it's only a matter of time before we start getting AI companions like the ones we used to see in movies like R2-D2, Wall-E, or Baymax. Now, Singapore-based OKA Technology has unveiled Mori, a cute little AI companion that looks less like a conventional home robot and more like someone turned the Pokémon Foongus into a table lamp.

Mori isn't meant to clean your house or control your smart home, but to serve as what OKA calls a "Nature Companion." It uses subtle movements, warm lighting, nature-inspired sounds, and small reactions to make its presence around the house feel calming rather than distracting. Mori can sit quietly while you read, sway along to music, welcome you when you enter a room, or encourage you to slow down for a moment without requiring a screen or a conversation.
