NeoCoreGames’ action RPG  The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing is coming to Xbox One. The Hungarian studio is already working on the third entry in the series for PC, but will start back at the beginning for Xbox One.

The game casts you as the son of Van Helsing, legendary vampire hunter from Bram Stoker’s Dracula. You traipse around an alternate-history 19th century Europe, slaying the undead, werewolves, and any number of horrible, mad science creations. In classic, Diablo-derived ARPG form this involves a lot of strategic clicking as you gather experience, climb up a skill tree, spam health and magic potions, and collect incrementally-improved loot.

It’s a studied genre piece that smartly draws from the accrued innovations of its predecessors, such as taking a page from Torchlight by giving you a ghostly companion that fights alongside you and can be sent back to town to offload kipple and bring back fat stacks of gold, letting your mayhem continue unhindered. The game also integrates tower defense sequences that add a nice bit of original spice.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing came out in 2013 for PC and Xbox 360, and its sequel the following year for PC. With all that experience under its belt, NeoCoreGames should be able to deliver a thoroughly refined and definitive edition of their promising ARPG. If Diablo III isn’t quite scratching your itch on consoles, Van Helsing will be a nice–and likely less expensive–alternative. No date was given in the teaser tweet, so we will let you know as more concrete information comes to light.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 coming to Xbox?
A mage holding a flaming object.

After years in early access only on PC, Baldur's Gate 3 is finally here in its final state. This CRPG has the internet buzzing about just how long and varied the experience can be. What's even better is that it can be played in co-op, though with limited cross-platform features. Those looking at the game may notice that there is only ever mention of a PC and PlayStation 5 version, which obviously raises the question about Xbox consoles. Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't have any exclusivity deal with PlayStation, so why isn't it on Xbox, and will it ever be?

The latest update from Larian states that it will be able to release Baldur's Gate 3 on Series X and S sometime before the end of 2023, but with the S version not having split-screen coop.

One of 2023’s most anticipated RPGs is coming to PS Plus on day one
The Solstice Warriors stand under a full moon in Sea of Stars' key art.

Sabotage Studio announced that its highly anticipated retro-style RPG Sea of Stars will be available as part of the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog when it releases on August 29.
Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by classic games like Chrono Trigger, where the main heroes' powers are based around the sun and moon. Sea of Stars' distinct visual style and polished-looking gameplay has allowed this indie game to stand out alongside the liks of Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield, other RPGs that will release around the same time. Clearly, Sabotage wants to get this game in front of as many people as possible during this busy period for games, so it makes sense to put Sea of Stars on game subscription services.

It's in good company as a day one PS Plus Extra and Premium title, as it follows solid indies like Stray, Tchia, and Humanity. Sabotage also released a demo for Sea of Stars on PS4 and PS5 today so people can try a bit of the game early.
PS Plus Extra and Premium actually aren't the only subscription services that Sea of Stars will be on at launch. Previously, Sabotage had confirmed that the Xbox and PC versions of the game are launching on Xbox Game Pass on day one as well. So, if you have either of the major video game subscription services, you'll have ample opportunity to play the game across three platforms without having to pay for it. It will launch on Nintendo Switch, though, and you'll have to pay the full $35 price for it there.
Sea of Stars launches across Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, and Nintendo Switch on August 29.

Your Xbox Live Gold subscription will turn into Xbox Game Pass Core this September

Microsoft finally made the decision to move on from its monthly online-access subscription service Xbox Live Gold. On September 14, Xbox Live Gold will transform into Xbox Game Pass Core, with current Gold subscribers automatically gaining a Game Pass Core subscription.

An Xbox Live subscription tied to online play has existed in some form since Xbox Live launched in 2002, but Xbox Live Gold as we now know it truly came into form in July 2013 when Microsoft started the Games with Gold program that gave subscribers free games each month in addition to that online access. Although Microsoft rolled back some online restrictions in 2021, Games with Gold continues to this day. That will all end when Game Pass Core launches.
