Sprint announced that the HTC Desire 510, HTC’s first 64-bit smartphone that was announced back on August 27, will be available for purchase this Friday, September 19. You also have the option of buying it from Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile on September 22 and 23, respectively.

The Desire 510’s claim to fame is its quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, which features Qualcomm’s 64-bit technology, running at 1.2GHz. Other than that, we’re looking at a decidedly midrange smartphone with its 1GB of RAM and 4.7-inch 854 x 480 pixel display.

You’ll find 8GB of internal memory, though the MicroSD card slot allows for expandable memory up to 128GB. Don’t expect BoomSound or any depth sensor trickery, as you’ll find a speaker on the back of the Desire 510 and 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. Even so, to complain about these aspects would be missing the point of the Desire 510, which is a cheap phone that offers an impressive processor.

Even more impressive is how much the Desire 510 will cost across Sprint and its two prepaid subsidiaries. Sprint will offer the Desire 510 contract-free for $216 or $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $9 through Sprint Easy Pay. Both Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile, meanwhile, will offer the handset for $100 contract-free.

Someone holding the Honor Magic 6 RSR outside.

There's no doubt that 2024 has already been an exciting year for Android phones. Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
