Yes, this $6,000 Lamborghini smartphone is as ridiculous as it is absurd

$6,000 for a smartphone is one pill that us commoners can’t swallow. Then again, Tonino Lamborghini’s 88 Tauri isn’t aimed at the regular Joe who likes to shop at Best Buy; it’s for the irregular Moe who shops at Armani and Cartier on a weekly basis.

Before diving too deep into this smartphone, let’s get this out of the way: it looks absolutely ridiculous. With the combination of a stitched leather finish and gold-, silver-, or black-plated stainless steel surrounding the phone, the 88 Tauri is sure to make you stand out in the crowd, for worse or for worse.

Assuming you’re crazy enough to throw $6,000 at the order screen for the 88 Tauri, you’ll get a decently powerful smartphone. A 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM, represents the smartphone’s beating heart. The 5-inch 1,920 x 1,080 pixel display shows Android 4.4 KitKat in all its glory, while the 64GB of internal storage will store plenty of pictures taken with the 20-megapixel camera on the back and 8-megapixel camera on the front.

You can expand storage up to 128GB, thanks to the MicroSD card slot, while the phone’s Dual SIM Dual Active LTE functionality keeps both SIM cards active at the same time. Finally, the beefy 3,400mAh battery should keep the 88 Tauri going from 0 to 60mph in under 5 seconds.

Tonino Lamborghini notes that only 1,947 units of each color, four colors in total, will be made. To that, we say thank goodness.

The Honor Magic 6 RSR is my new favorite Android phone of 2024
Someone holding the Honor Magic 6 RSR outside.

There's no doubt that 2024 has already been an exciting year for Android phones. Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
