When ZTE unveiled the Nubia Z9 Max and the Nubia Z9 Mini, we were left to wonder where the regular Nubia Z9 was. Fast forward to today, and we see that the smartphone passed through TENNA, China’s version of the FCC, with absolutely ridiculous specifications, reports PhoneArena.

Normally, there would be no reason to question TENNA’s accuracy when it comes to listing a product’s specifications, but with the Nubia Z9, we see it packs a ridiculous 8GB of RAM and a 3.5GHz octa-core processor. These specifications are simply bonkers for a smartphone, which makes us believe these could simply be typos. In other words, the phone might actually have 3GB of 4GB of RAM and a 2.5GHz octa-core processor, though we’ll have to wait until the May 6 unveiling to learn the truth.

Thankfully, the phone’s other specifications are more in line with reality, with the Nubia Z9 packing a 5.15-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 display, with Android 5.0 Lollipop preinstalled. Keeping things chugging along is the handset’s decently sized 3,000mAh battery, though the listing states both the rear and front cameras are 8 megapixels, which would be a step back from the Nubia Z9 Max and Mini, which pack 16-megapixel cameras, leading us to believe this might be another typo.

We also see the Nubia Z9 will bring with it wide cellular band support, such as GSM, CDMA, TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE, LTE FDD, and WCDMA. Along with the long list of acronyms, ZTE also throws another one at us: FiT, which stands for Fringe Interactive Technology. This allows the Nubia Z9 to adjust volume or brightness, switch between active apps, and more by sliding one or two fingers along the edge of the screen. The phone doesn’t discriminate about which edge you choose to slide along.

Based on previous rumors, we also expect the Nubia Z9 to have an almost bezel-less screen, though screen size and screen resolution differs between rumors and what we see in the TENNA certification. Either way, as previously mentioned, we should learn more about the Nubia Z9 during its unveiling on May 6.

Nothing Community Edition Project winner.

Say what you will about Nothing, but this brand certainly has a taste for flashy design. After all, how many phones out there light up and sync to the beat of music? But the company's latest smartphone endeavor could just be its best yet.

In March, Nothing introduced its Community Edition Project. The goal was to take ideas from its fans for hardware design, with the Nothing Phone 2a serving as the foundation. The company also has similar plans for wallpaper, packaging, and marketing shenanigans. Today, Nothing announced its winning entry for the phone design, and it’s a stunner.
