Jabra is no stranger to integrating fitness-related features into its products. Last year we reviewed the company’s Sport Pulse Wireless headphones, which offered a built-in heart rate monitor and a fitness tracking app. Now the company is taking that line of thinking a step further.
As the name implies, the Jabra Sport Coach headphones do more than just track your exercise — they guide it. Using the Sport Life training app, the headphones can guide users through customized workouts integrating over 40 different exercises from beginner to advanced. To keep you motivated, the headphones offer personalized audio coaching.
The heart rate monitor from the Sport Pulse won’t be found here, but Jabra has stepped up the fitness tracking features in other ways. The Sport Coach headphones keep track of pace, distance, step count, cadence and calories burned.
“For sports, we are committed to delivering innovative audio solutions designed to enhance the training experience for fitness enthusiast,” Jabra CEO Rene Svendsen-Tune said in a statement. “We started by specifically targeting runners, and now we are taking the next step by delivering a solution optimized for cross trainers. We see clear possibilities for in-ear audio solutions combined with biometrics.”
Of course, it’s not all about the fitness features — this is a pair of headphones, after all. The Dolby audio found in many Jabra headphones is available here, and Jabra promises a secure fit, though this always varies from person to person.
The Sport Coach headphones use NFC for pairing and offer Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. Battery life is stated as 5.5 hours, and while this isn’t as high as other wireless headphones, it should be enough to get users through most workouts.
These sell for $150 and are available in red, yellow, and blue color options. The package includes a carrying case and additional Jabra EarGel tips.
