This week’s eShop update brings developer Edmund McMillen’s The Legend of Zelda-inspired action game The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth to Nintendo consoles for the first time, while Nintendo 3DS owners can look forward to an upgraded port of a classic Sega Genesis brawler.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is out today for the Nintendo Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS devices, joining previously released ports for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Rebirth expansion introduces a number of new and randomly generated gameplay elements, making for a radically different experience compared to the original The Binding of Isaac released for PCs in 2011.

The Binding of Isaac was previously denied a release on Nintendo platforms due to its controversial religious and violent content. The upgraded Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS ports boast platform-exclusive features like off-TV play and alternate map displays.

Also arriving on the Wii U and 3DS this week is Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria, a compilation of retro-styled console RPGs from developer Muteki Corporation. Previously released for the PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and mobile platforms, the Dragon Fantasy games pare down traditional JRPG mechanics for a quest reminiscent of the original 8-bit Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy games.

Nintendo 3DS owners can also look for 3D Streets of Rage 2, the latest entry in Sega and developer M2’s 3D Classics series. 3D Streets of Rage 2 upgrades the classic 1992 brawler with stereoscopic visuals and other bonus features not found in its original 16-bit Sega Genesis release. 3D Streets of Rage 2 joins a lineup of enhanced Sega Genesis re-releases for the 3DS, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Ecco the Dolphin, and Altered Beast.

The Wii U additionally hosts a Virtual Console version of the 2007 Nintendo DS action game DK Jungle Climber this week, along with new titles like Canvaleon, Legend of Kay Anniversary, and The Quiet Collection. Additional Nintendo 3DS games premiering this week include Epic Word Search Collection, Fantasy Pirates, and I Love My Cats.
