Jenna Dewan-Tatum has been confirmed to star in the new Supergirl drama series for CBS, playing Lucy Lane, the younger sister of Lois Lane, reports Deadline.
Dewan-Tatum has appeared in a number of projects, including Step Up, Witches of East End, The Playboy Club, and American Horror Story: Asylum. Married to actor Channing Tatum, she got her career start as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson.

In the recurring role, her character in the upcoming series is pegged as “brash, funny, and beautiful,” with past romantic relations with the photojournalist character Jimmy Olsen. She reportedly returns to town to “right a previous wrong.” The character of Olsen is played by Mehcad Brooks (Necessary Roughness). Melissa Benoist (GLEE) will play the title role of Superman’s little cousin, a.k.a. Kara Zor-El.
As for the rest of the major players, Peter Facinelli (Nurse Jackie, The Twilight Saga) has been tapped to play Maxwell Lord, and Chris Browning (Sons of Anarchy) will play Ben Krull, aka Reactron. Also tied to the project are Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant and Dean Cain (who famously once played Superman in the ’90s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) as Jeremiah Danvers, Supergirl’s foster father. There’s no word on whether Lois Lane will appear in the show and if so, who might play her. (Is Teri Hatcher available?)
The show follows Zor-El’s story after she has been sent away from her home planet of Krypton to live with the Danvers family at the age of 24. There, she learns to effectively use her powers once she’s forced to reveal them to the world, and officially becomes Supergirl.
Supergirl, based on the DC Comics character, will debut on CBS on October 26, 2015.
