Whether you’ve read the comics or not, fans keeping up with The Walking Dead know that this upcoming season will introduce a whole new threat known as The Wolves. And the latest promo poster for the sixth season of the widely popular AMC show hints even further at the impending doom.
It’s fairly simple: the date of the premiere episode, “10.11.15,” the acronym of the show’s name, and an image of lead character Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) sitting amidst a dark and gloomy background, gun in hand, with a despondent yet motivated look on his face. The two inside curves of the “W” cut right into his face and arm – two popular spots in which walkers/zombies/biters/roamers like to sink their teeth. But this time, perhaps it won’t be the undead after all that try to take a bite out of Rick?

What really stands out is his positioning right smack-dab in the middle of the letter “W.” Fans of the series (spoiler alert) know that we already saw some foreshadowing of the Wolves in season five, including a few walkers with the letter “W” burned into their corpse heads. This simply gets us even more excited for what Rick and his crew will have to contend with following a short period of calm in the suburban, solar-powered town of Alexandria where they were holed up for much of season five.
Fear not, fans, as you have the sister series Fear the Walking Dead to watch through to October 4, the week before The Walking Dead makes its highly anticipated return. And on October 11, you’ll have 90 minutes worth of zombie action to get yourself ready for the pack to arrive. Will we see the Wolves in episode one? Or might it be later on in the season? Who knows. Regardless, we know they’re coming, and prove that in a post-apocalyptic world, it’s the survivors that can sometimes become the biggest threats. Watch out.
