Google’s September 29 press conference in San Francisco was one of the company’s most eventful shows in years. The theme was Pairs, and things did indeed come in twos. The Internet giant brought out two Nexus phones this year: LG’s mid-range Nexus 5X and Huawei’s high-end Nexus 6P. And Google also showed off two new Chromecast devices, one with significantly upgraded Wi-Fi and the other focused on audio.

Beyond hardware, the long-awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update was on tap of course, too, as were tidbits like a new $15 a month family subscription for Google Play Music and Spotify integration with Chromecast. Google also teased the Pixel C, a convertible device that runs Android and acts like a tablet PC with a keyboard

AT&T now makes you pay even more for its fastest 5G speeds

We have bad news for AT&T customers who always expect to get the fastest 5G speeds. The second-largest carrier in the U.S. will now make you pay extra for the fastest option. On Thursday, AT&T announced its new “Turbo” add-on, which it says will provide “enhanced data connectivity for real-time responsiveness.”

What this means in terms of network speeds compared to what everyday AT&T 5G customers get isn’t exactly clear.
