Video game enthusiasts know that the run-up to the holiday season is the busiest period of the year for major releases. Games like Fallout 4, Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void and Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be vying for the attention of gamers over the next few months — and Nvidia is trying to make enjoying these titles as easy as possible.
Earlier today, the company announced plans to help users with GeForce graphics hardware get “game ready” for Black Ops III with the 358.87 WHQL driver. The update will also improve performance in games like NBA 2K16, Sword Coast Legends, and Triad Wars, according to the Tech Report.
In terms of PC releases, Black Ops III will kick off this year’s packed holiday schedule when it launches on November 6. It was recently confirmed that the PC version of the game will eventually feature mod support, although those tools won’t be made available until some time next year.
Call of Duty isn’t the only major release set to be accompanied by a driver update from Nvidia. The company has pledged to release similar support for titles including Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Civilization Online, and Overwatch — a full list is available via the official Nvidia blog.
Nvidia’s “game ready” driver program launched two years ago, and focuses on offering updates on or before the day that major releases are made available. Performance tweaks and bug fixes are expected to continue until the 11th hour, at which point the company’s work is to be double-checked by Microsoft WHQL certification.
Users can update their drivers now by downloading the patch directly from the Nvidia website, or by running a check in the GeForce Experience tool. As an added bonus, Nvidia is offering $100,000 in prizes to anyone who registers using GeForce Experience.
