Handstand2 gets a grip on the iPad 2

Hub International has announced the Handstand2, and updated version of its Handstand case specially fitted for the iPad 2. The Handstand takes a unique approach to the idea of an iPad case: instead of just working as a cover to protect and maybe prop up an iPad, the HandStand (and Handstand2) add a one-size-fits-all strap to the back of the iPad, enabling the device to become “an extension of the users’ hand.” Users can easily keep the iPad with them as they go about their routines, and the HandStand enables users to spin the iPad to easily show what’s on the iPad screen, share content, and more. While the HandStand might not seem very practical if you spend all your iPad time on the coach, folks like nurses, doctors, salespeople, teachers, and other professionals using the iPad for business might find it a lifesaver.

“With the release of the iPad 2, it was more important than ever to developed a case that not only made the Apple tablet more comfortable to carry, but also assist users in the many functions that it had to offer,” said Hub International founder Jaime Smith, in a statement. “The HandStand for iPad encompasses both, making the iPad easier to hold for long periods of time as well as helping users become more efficient when working with their iPad.”

The strap enables users to easily keep on hand behind the iPad for solid support and application use, and the grip also doubles as a bit of a stand that supports the iPad at a bit of an incline when used on a solid surface—so users don’t have to slip it in and out of the case. The new version for the iPad 2 leaves space for the iPad 2’s camera, ports, and other controls.

The HandStand2 is available now for $49.95, and is available in black, white, and pink. The original HandStand for the original iPad is still available, as well.

Apple just did something amazing to the iPad
The yellow iPad (2022) lying face-down on a green bush.

Apple's "Let Loose" event just wrapped up, and as expected, there was a lot of iPad news. Just like the rumors suggested, Apple gave us pretty significant overhauls for the new 2024 iPad Air and 2024 iPad Pro. But there was another iPad-related announcement that I didn't expect — and it's the one I'm most excited about.

At the end of its event, Apple announced that the 10th-generation iPad will now be available for just $349. For context, Apple originally launched the 10th-gen iPad in October 2022 for $449. A $100 price cut is nothing to sneeze at, and if you ask me, it completely changes the positioning of this particular iPad.

The new iPad Pro is here, and it looks absolutely ridiculous
Official photo of the 2024 iPad Pro.

Apple announced the new iPad Pro series, which seems like the biggest upgrade to an iPad in years, at its Let Loose event on May 7. It brings an all-new processor, design, and display. The new iPad Pros still come in two sizes — 13 inches and 11 inches — and they now carry the "thinnest Apple product ever made" badge. It's a big achievement, considering Apple is dubbing the tablets' M4 processor as a "PC chip." In short, it's a bit more impressive than today's iPad Air news.

The new iPad Pros feature an OLED display for per-pixel brightness precision and greater contrast. It also allows for better immersion in content consumption. The displays can reach 1,000 nits of sustained brightness and 1,600 nits of peak brightness for supported HDR content.
