Runco Debuts New LightStyle Projectors

runcols-3-bigHigh-definition home theater projectors are more of a luxury than a necessity, but if opulence suits your needs then get excited for Runco’s new LightStyle series. Runco’s been leading the market for a while with its projection systems and video processors, and this week the company announced the release of its LightStyle series the LS-3, LS-5, and LS-7 compact HD projectors.

The LS-3 is the smallest of the three and comes with full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 1000 ANSI and a 10000:1 contrast ratio. Runco’s LS-3 also has an extra long 4000 hour lamp life. This compact projector is priced at $4,995.

The LS-5 also offers 1080p resolution and features 1000 ANSI lumens, but it has a 15000:1 contrast ratio—the bigger the ratio, the more detail and darker black levels in the picture quality. The LS-5 is set to retail for $6995.

Lastly, the LS-7 comes with a lesser HD resolution (1280 x 720), but has an added brightness with 2000 ANSI lumens, so you don’t have to sit in complete darkness to enjoy your movie. The LS-7 has a 10000:1 contrast and is the most expensive of the three at $15495.

All three projectors share the same round design and black finish. The LS-3 and LS-5 will ship in November 2009, while the LS-7 will be available in December 2009. All Runco displays feature a two-year standard warranty.

Samsung debuts Premiere 8K UST projector at CES 2023 with images up to 150 inches
Samsung Premiere UST Projector.

Samsung might not be the first company to produce an ultra short throw (UST) projector that can display a native 8K resolution image, but it claims that its new Premiere 8K is the first of its kind to display that image at a size of 150 diagonal inches. The company revealed the Premiere 8K at CES 2023 but did not immediately provide pricing or announce the projector's availability.

Until now, 8K UST projectors have been limited to image sizes of 120 inches. And while 120 inches is pretty big, especially when compared to existing 8K TVs, it's hard to argue that bigger isn't better, so now buyers can fill even more of their home theaters with 8K goodness.

LG prices its Flex, StanByMe TVs, and debuts a new model that doubles as magazine rack
LG OLED Flex TV

2022 has been a big year for LG's TVs, as the company has moved well beyond traditional wall- or stand-mounted models, into new designs that are targeted at specific audiences like gamers and those who want their TVs to be more than just black rectangles on a wall.

The company had previously introduced us to the bendable OLED Flex and the touchscreen-based StanByMe, but now, as part of the company's presence at the CEDIA show in Dallas, TX, LG has told us how much they'll cost. LG is also taking the opportunity to introduce a new model in its Objet series, known as the Posé -- a quirky, easel-like TV that has space for things like magazines on its rear shelf.

LG debuts two new CineBeam 4K HDR projectors
LG CineBeam HU715Q and HU710P 4K HDR projectors.

LG has unveiled its two most advanced projectors to date. The LG CineBeam HU715Q and HU710P both feature 4K resolution and HDR capabilities with 2,000,000:1 contrast ratios. Both models will be available in the first quarter of 2022, and LG released pricing on February 28.

The HU710P will retail at $2,500. It uses a hybrid laser-LED light source, which LG says doesn't require a color wheel, and can generate up to 2,000 lumens of brightness. The HU715Q, which is a larger, ultra short throw model, uses just laser light and produces up to 2,500 lumens. Both projectors will work in most indoor settings, but LG says they can also be enjoyed outside, after sunset.
