When it comes to the tech you carry every day, such as phones, tablets, and smartwatches, no show looms larger than Mobile World Congress. Tech giants like Samsung, LG, and Sony descend on Barcelona every March to show off their hottest new toys. And if you’re in the market, you’ll find new products that make the gear introduced just months ago look ancient. This year was no exception. A spate of powerful new smartphones, super-thin tablets, and swanky smartwatches you’ll finally want to wear has made it one of the most exciting shows in recent memory.

The Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro).

Apple has announced an all-new iPad mini. This seventh-generation model, which has long been anticipated, features an A17 Pro chip designed to support Apple Intelligence. Visually, it looks just like the last iPad mini, but there are some key upgrades under the hood.

The A17 Pro chip, also found on the iPhone 15 Pro series, features a 6-core CPU that delivers 30% better performance than the previous model. Its 5-core GPU also offers improved graphics performance. In addition to an A17 Pro chip, the 2024 iPad mini features an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display, a 12MP primary camera, and support for the Apple Pencil Pro.

A microscopic change may give the iPhone 18 huge performance gains
iPhone 16 Pro Max in Desert Titanium.

Apple is poised to make a significant change with the iPhone 18 when the series arrives in 2026. A reliable source on Weibo suggests that the tech giant will leverage TSMC's cutting-edge 2-nanometer fabrication process for the A20 chip powering these devices. This advancement promises a significant boost in performance and efficiency.

Furthermore, the iPhone 18 series is rumored to be the first to feature 12GB of RAM across the board, which would be a substantial upgrade from the current 8GB RAM in the iPhone 16 lineup. This increase in memory capacity will enable smoother multitasking and enhanced performance for demanding applications.

The OnePlus 13 may have a cool display feature we’ve never seen before
The OnePlus 12's screen.

The OnePlus 13 has been making waves as one of the most anticipated upcoming phones, especially as leak after leak has emerged about its features and design. We take most of those leaks with skepticism, just in case something isn't totally spot-on, but now we have news straight from OnePlus itself: the OnePlus 13 can adjust the refresh rates for different parts of the screen.

That's an interesting feature we haven't seen before, and it has big implications for power efficiency. The OnePlus 13 is also set to have a 6,000mAh battery. That will provide a lot of battery life, but what if even more could be drawn out by making small adjustments on the fly?
