The photo shows McBride receiving instructions from director Ridley Scott on the bridge of the ship. Not only is it interesting to see the interaction between actor and director, the set is impressive as well. All appears to be in order at the moment the photo was taken, but surely, it will show signs of chaos by the time the movie’s end credits roll.
The tweet simply called the moment a “mission briefing,” which sounds about right given that Scott appears to be issuing commands.

Scott is also the director behind Covenant‘s predecessor, the 2012 sci-fi flick Prometheus. The films are part of a prequel trilogy that leads into Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror film Alien and its three sequels. In Covenant, the crew of a colony ship discovers a dangerous, uncharted planet inhabited by a survivor of the Prometheus expedition. McBride stars alongside Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Demián Bichir, Jussie Smolett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, and Billy Crudup.
McBride may be new to the franchise, but his work should be familiar to many fans. He has starred in films such as Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder, and This Is the End, as well as the sports sitcom Eastbound & Down, which he co-created.
Alien: Covenant is scheduled for theatrical release on August 4, 2017.
