Don’t blink: Universal releases Lightning-fast Jason Bourne teasers

Jason Bourne - Teaser 2 (Universal Pictures)
With all due respect to Bond, James Bond, it may be that Bourne, Jason Bourne turns out to be this generation’s favorite super spy. As you probably know by now, Matt Damon has returned to the franchise and the high-energy trailer that premiered during Super Bowl 50 helped heighten the anticipation for the upcoming sequel: Jason Bourne.

If that wasn’t enough for you, however, ScreenCrush reports that Universal Pictures just dropped a couple of teasers along with the news that another full-length trailer will arrive on Thursday, April 21.

The two teasers, released on YouTube (embedded above) and Twitter (embedded below), show Bourne in beast mode and stealth mode respectively, but blink more than once and you might miss these lightning-fast spots. At only five seconds each, they feel a bit like when a fancy restaurant serves you a single scallop as an hors d’oeuvre: Not quite enough to satiate your hunger but just enough to leave you desperate for more.

Both teasers play on Bourne’s Bond-like name recognition, as the on-screen text cuts in with “you know” and then “his name” as Damon lands tactical blows, disarms foes, disappears from sight, and generally does his thing.

In addition to the titular hero, franchise favorite Julia Stiles (Nicky Parsons) is also back in the fold, while Tommy Lee Jones (Robert Dewey) and Alicia Vikander headline a long list of newcomers. Paul Greengrass, who helmed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, is back in the director’s chair and will look to return the series to its halcyon days.

If these bite-sized, Amuse-bouche-like teasers leave you hungering for the main course, don’t worry, Universal has promised to drop a meatier trailer on Thursday, though we don’t yet have any details on that spot.

Jason Bourne is set to hit dinner tables theaters on July 29, 2016. Stay tuned for updates.

Are you in the mood to be scared? January may seem like an odd time to watch a horror movie, but for the last few years, the genre has thrived in the first month of the year with such recent hits as M3GAN and Night Swim. 2025 brings us Wolf Man, a modern retelling of the classic werewolf tale, and all signs point to another winter horror hit.

But those movie fans who want something more mellow this weekend aren't out of luck. Streaming has plenty of options, with Max being one of the best out there. In addition to such current popular movies like Juror #2 and Furiosa, the streamer has the following three movies that, for one reason or another, have been overlooked and underrated.
