OnePlus confirms OnePlus X isn’t dead, but only has limited stock

Released back in November, the OnePlus X is considered to be one of the better options if you are looking to buy a phone that will not break the bank. However, there seems to be confusion as to whether OnePlus’ budget phone is being phased out or not.

If you go to the company’s website, you will notice that both color options for the OnePlus X are currently out of stock. And as it happens, both options have been mostly out of stock for a handful of months. Now, in an email sent to those trying to buy the phone, OnePlus has revealed that its budget phone will remain out of stock for the foreseeable future.

“We regret to inform you that the OnePlus X you ordered is out of stock at the moment and there is no plan for replenishment,” reads the email posted on OnePlus’ forums. OnePlus also said it will refund cancelled orders and throw in a $10 coupon code with free standard shipping for those who tried to buy the phone.

Weirdly enough, however, a OnePlus forum member contacted the company and was told the OnePlus X will not be discontinued and that stock will be replenished sometime soon, though OnePlus did not say when that will be.

“Yes, the OnePlus X will still be restocked since our management hasn’t announced yet that it would be phased-out,” reads the statement. “So rest assured it will still get back on stock.”

According to Android Authority, OnePlus says the company will have limited stock of the OnePlus X Ceramic and Onyx over the next few months, but the OnePlus X Champagne has already sold out and won’t be replenished.

“Stay tuned to our forums for updates, and rest assured that we will continue supporting the OnePlus X as we do all of our other phones,” the company said.

Even though the OnePlus X is one of the more popular budget phones around, it has also proven to be a polarizing device. For example, the device included features not normally seen in a phone that costs less than $300, such as a 1080p display and an aluminum border keeping the two sides of glass together. At the same time, the phone did not include NFC and lacked important U.S. LTE bands, making the OnePlus X difficult to recommend to U.S. residents.

Samsung stirred the wide foldable race, but I’m more excited for an upcoming exotic rival
Samsung went bold and wide, but Xiaomi's rumored Mix Fold 5 has my attention
Computer, Electronics, Tablet Computer

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 brought a major redesign to the company's foldable lineup. We now have a shorter, almost passport-like body that opens into a 7.6-inch display with a more media-friendly 4:3 aspect ratio. This feels like a more natural fit than Samsung's squarer last-gen foldables. It also has a more portable 201 grams heft and a decent 4,800mAh battery capacity.

All of this makes it one of Samsung's most interesting foldables yet. However, an upcoming Xiaomi device may take the same wide-screen formula and blend it with a Chinese phone's typical madness.

Apple reportedly plans to launch a Klarna-backed financing program next week that will let you pay off an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch in monthly installments over two to three years. While Apple hasn't shared any details about the rumored "Apple Upgrade" program yet, code spotted in an iOS 27 beta release suggests the company has already built a system to deal with customers who fall behind on payments.

Your favorite Android apps could soon work better on foldables
Foldable phones may soon get apps that fit their screens more naturally
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra

Samsung's latest Galaxy Unpacked event wasn't just about new hardware. Alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8 and new Galaxy Watch lineup, Google used the occasion to announce a series of updates aimed at Android developers, encouraging them to optimize apps for a growing range of foldable devices and wearable form factors.

The guidance focuses on one challenge that has become increasingly relevant as foldables evolve: building apps that work seamlessly across different screen sizes, aspect ratios and device postures. With the Galaxy Z Fold 8 adopting a wider, landscape-first display, Google says developers can no longer assume every Android phone follows the traditional portrait-first design philosophy.
