The new Opera Touch mobile web browser emphasizes single-handed browsing

Opera Touch makes it easier to browse on the iPhone XS Max with one hand

Opera Touch - a browser for iPhone even a genius can’t resist | OPERA

Opera wants to make the mobile browsing experience a little smoother. The company launched a new mobile web browser called Opera Touch, earlier this year and now the new browser is on its way to iOS, too.

Opera designed Touch to be easily usable with one hand only and that is where the inspiration came from for a lot of the browser’s experience. That, in particular, could come in handy for a phone as big as the iPhone XS Max. For example, Opera has added a so-called “Fast Action” button at the bottom of the screen, which allows users to access the browser’s features with only their thumb.

“This means that, unlike in most other browsers, you can more easily browse and search the web when on the move,” Opera product manager Maciej Kocemba said in a statement.

Opera has added a few other features to make using the browser easy — and those features are aimed at being quick and super easy to use. For example, when you launch Opera, the browser will be immediately ready to search, with the keyboard activated and the search bar in use. The browser, as you would expect in 2018, also supports voice search and QR codes.

When Opera launched the Touch browser on Android earlier this year, it also launched a new version of its desktop browser — which works very well with the mobile browser. To that end, Opera has allowed for connectivity between the mobile and desktop browser without the need to even log in. To connect the browsers, all you really have to do is scan the appropriate QR code using Opera Touch on your phone, which establishes a connection — that Opera calls Opera Flow. Whenever something is added to Opera Flow on one device, it will be added to the other, too. The connection is encrypted, so if you are worried about security, you don’t need to be with Flow.

With the new iOS launch, Opera Touch is now available on both Android and iOS phones — so if you want a new browsing experience on your iPhone, you can try it out now.

Updated on October 1, 2018: Opera Touch is now available on iOS.

Why I believe Samsung should make the Galaxy S26 Edge, not cancel it
It seems the revival of Edge family was a one-off stunt, but Samsung should give it another go.
The side of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.

The future of ultra-slim phones doesn’t look so good, despite a short run. A report coming out of Taiwan claims that the apparent failure of the iPhone Air has pushed a bunch of other companies to cancel their respective slim phones. Samsung could also join that list of brands that are playing it safe.

Most leaks suggest that Samsung has canceled the Galaxy S25 Edge successor and will return to the mid-tier Plus model next year. The apparent cancellation of the Galaxy S26 Edge doesn’t paint a good picture, especially for Samsung’s trust in its product philosophy.
