Digital Trends announces editorial promotions, new hires

Matt Smith & Caleb Denison Promoted to Senior Editor

Portland, OR – April 21, 2016 – Digital Trends today announced several promotions and new hires as the centerpiece of a restructuring designed to address the growing consumer demand for news, reviews, and information on personal technology. The appointments, made by Jeremy Kaplan, Editor in Chief for Digital Trends (www.digitaltrends.com), reflect the surge in editorial content for the site, which now routinely attracts roughly 25MM unique visitors per month and posts 80 or more articles daily.

Matt Smith and Caleb Denison have each been promoted to the newly created positon of Senior Editor. Both Smith, whose primary focus is computer technology, and Denison, a major driver in A/V and entertainment editorial, will help take Digital Trends into new product categories through up-to-the-minute news reporting and editing.

Additionally, Ryan Waniata and Brandon Widder have each been elevated to the role of Associate Editor. In these newly created positions, Waniata will help manage the site’s growing coverage of home theater, music, and movies, while Widder will take on an expanded role managing a team dedicated to guides, how-tos, and other service journalism.

Kaplan also announced that part-time writers Brendan Hesse and Will Nicol have joined the Digital Trends team full-time, effective immediately.

“The growing importance of tech in everyday life demands editorial coverage that helps our readers stay current in a growing number of product categories,” explains Kaplan. “These promotions and appointments recognize the amazing work done by our editorial team, and demonstrate our ability to provide even more of the outstanding content that Digitaltrends.com users both expect and deserve.”
