RFID Technology to Boost Company Efficiency

nongshim-data-systemsNongshim Data System’s (NDS) innovative automatic clothes count system showed positive signs at the active RFID/USN exports next year at RFID/USN Korea 2009. The debut of this device is significant to large scale clothing malls where many different colored clothes are placed in a huge box to be delivered to the mall.

The NDS Automatic Clothes Count System scans color, size, quantity, and model ID in all of two seconds at 100% accuracy. With the use of this technology, companies no longer have to open the box and spend long and tedious hours counting and sorting out products and making sure the order is accurate. Through the use of an antenna, it scans every product’s tag inside the box so it can sort out which products there are, and the number of each product, within 2 seconds. By a few simple clicks, the system can create its own invoice list and can make the sort out orders much more convenient and efficient. Visitors evaluated that this system is ideal to the large scale clothing companies.

Since Nongshim is the leading food company in Korea, the development of RFID/USN will play an essential role to strengthen the company’s credibility. “By placing the tag in the red pepper powder container, any possible variables to change the ingredients’ originality will be prevented,” said Hwang Jun-yong of Nongshim Data System. NDS’ application of RFID/USN suggests the improvement of its user’s quality of life with the promotion of its efficiency and high security.

Microsoft will no longer invest in facial-recognition technologies
Facial Recognition Composite

At a time when many tech companies are pouring money into facial-recognition research, Microsoft is selling off its investments into the technology. The company has announced it is divesting its shares in AnyVision, an Israeli facial-recognition company alleged to be contributing to mass surveillance in the West Bank.

A recent audit found that AnyVision's technology was not used in a mass surveillance program, but Microsoft has chosen to pull its investment from the company anyway. "After careful consideration, Microsoft and AnyVision have agreed that it is in the best interest of both enterprises for Microsoft to divest its shareholding in AnyVision," the companies said in a joint statement. "For Microsoft, the audit process reinforced the challenges of being a minority investor in a company that sells sensitive technology, since such investments do not generally allow for the level of oversight or control that Microsoft exercises over the use of its own technology."

Disney’s Bob Iger made the company an empire, for better and worse
Disney CEO Bob Iger Visits FOX Business Network's "Markets Now"

By no means should we idolize CEOs of major corporations, but departing Disney chief Bob Iger is certainly leaving a worthy legacy after transforming the brand from children- and family-focused to one that appeals to a much larger age range.

While there is uncertainty ahead for Disney, what Iger did with Disney+ was what his predecessor Michael Eisner couldn’t -- capture the hearts of millennials and Gen Z as children and keep them engaged with the brand as they aged and had their own kids
