DT’s ‘Better than Socks’ Holiday Giveaway: Quadrocopter

[Update 1/1: That’s it, folks. This giveaway is now closed.]

It’s been a fun couple of weeks during DT’s ‘Better than Socks’ Holiday Giveaways, but all good things must come to an end. We thought we’d go out with a bang by giving away a freakin’ quadrocopter! That’s right; get excited. Our friends at Firebox have graciously offered to give one lucky winner his or her very own Micro Drone Quadrocopter (a value of $112).

Featuring four rotors and “automatic gyro control,” the Micro Drone is able to pull off sharp turns and 360-degree flips in midair. The quadrocopter has a flight range of close to 400 feet, and is just slightly larger than the palm of your hand. It also comes with a compact remote control with a digital display. The Micro Drone runs on four AA rechargeable batteries, and a full recharge takes about 40 minutes, which is a small price to pay for some sweet, sweet quadrocopter action.

Interested in winning a Micro Drone? Just tell us your favorite toy from holidays past in the comments below by December 31, and we’ll choose a winner on New Year’s Day. No entries submitted in 2013 will be considered, so good luck!

There’s still time to enter some of our recent giveaways, so check out DT’s Better Than Socks Holiday Giveaway page for more cool gadgets.

25 years ago, Apple introduced a Mac that changed everything
The Apple logo on the Power Mac G3 Blue and White.

When you look back down the list of the best Macs of all time, the iMac G3 from 1998 garners a lot of praise for putting Apple back on the map, and rightly so. But there’s another Mac from that period that often gets overlooked -- and today it celebrates its 25th anniversary.

That Apple computer is the Power Mac G3 450 Blue and White edition. While the colorful iMac G3 opened up a new era for Apple by forging its reputation as a forward-thinking company that built fun, innovative computers, the Power Mac G3 Blue and White cemented that idea, showing that Apple was back in a big way.

Acer is finally back in the gaming monitor fight
The Acer Predator X27 F3 sitting on a table.

Acer just announced three new OLED gaming monitors at Computex 2024, which isn't too surprising. Event after event, we see a range of new Predator monitors packing a recent panel, but for a price that just isn't competitive with the rest of the market. Pricing isn't changing, but one of Acer's new monitors might get it back to the legendary status is once held.

Let's back up. Several years back, Acer was at the top of the gaming monitor stack. Its Predator X34 was one of the best gaming monitors you could buy, packing the coveted 21:9 aspect ratio and a high refresh rate. It occupied a similar space in the market that the Alienware 34 QD-OLED does now. It was early on the scene, and it rode that wave for several years.
