Serious gamers – and we mean serious gamers – might want to get their hands on new eye-tracking technology unveiled at E3 Monday that’s designed to help them hone their skills and give them the competitive edge over rival players.

Called Sentry, the tech – developed by gaming peripherals maker SteelSeries and eye-tracking specialist Tobii Technology – is designed to help gamers sharpen their technique by analyzing how efficiently they take in and process on-screen information.

Described by SteelSeries as a “virtual, visual coach,” the Sentry Eye Tracker allows players to track, analyze and benchmark eye movement and behaviors during gameplay, and provides real-time feedback to help improve skills.

The eye-tracking device (below), which is housed inside a slim rectangular box and sits beneath a display, gathers a broad range of stats based on where and how long a gamer focuses, or fixates, on the screen. These stats can then be analyzed to help the player discover if they’re processing game-related information in the most efficient way possible.

SteelSeries-sentry“Before your quick reaction time to dodge the enemy’s stun, before your amazing 360 no-scope headshot that wins the game, you need to to see what’s happening,” SteelSeries says on its website. “Before your fingers do amazing things, your eyes need to see the path to victory.”

The Danish company says it’s been working with some of the world’s best gamers to provide Sentry users with a standard for their own eye-tracking info, allowing them to compare their own stats with those of top players.

“It’s these benchmark comparisons that will allow users to gain deeper insight into how to use their eyes to improve their game,” the company said.

“When you think about the concept of eye tracking, you immediately think of innovation and next generation technology; apply that to gaming and you have something truly unique for gamers,” SteelSeries CTO Tino Soelberg said. “At its core, the Sentry employs eye-tracking functionality from our partner, Tobii, who has been a pioneer in eye tracking across many industries. When you take that core functionality and apply the deep gaming expertise of SteelSeries, we think we are able to offer a product that is innovative and incredibly beneficial to gamers.”

And collecting gaming performance data is only one of Sentry’s tricks, it seems, as there are also plans to use the technology as a new type of in-game control.

The Sentry Eye Tracker will be available later this year, with pricing to be decided.

BlizzCon 2024 is not happening despite Blizzard’s strong 2024 lineup
A still from World of Warcraft The Worldsoul Saga's reveal tralier.

World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch maker Blizzard Entertainment confirmed that BlizzCon 2024 will not be happening.

BlizzCon was a convention that Blizzard Entertainment held almost every year between 2005 and 2019 to celebrate its games and make new announcements. The pandemic and hostile workplace allegations against Blizzard meant that no shows were held in 2020 or 2022 (2021 was digital-only), but BlizzCon made its grand return in 2023. We attended it last November and had the opportunity to speak with developers and learn more about Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer's first visit to Blizzard, upcoming plans for franchises like Diablo and Warcraft, and more. Although Blizzard never outright confirmed that it would hold BlizzCon in 2024, the event was expected to continue after its return last year.

How to unlock fast travel in Another Crab’s Treasure
Kril with a coconut shell

Another Crab's Treasure is a fantastical soulslike set deep under the ocean where danger lurks around every corner. And like other games in the genre, it's often brutally difficult to overcome the various challenges you'll encounter. As such, you may find yourself wanting to backtrack for level grinding, to uncover new secrets, or to buy additional items in the game's main hub. However, you may notice early in the game that you haven't yet unlocked the ability to fast travel between the multitude of Moon Snail Shells (aka "bonfires") you've found. Here's how and when you'll unlock fast travel.
How to unlock fast travel
In the opening hours of the game, you may notice that you can access your skill tree, which will show a skill called Shelleportation. But you may be discouraged to see that you aren't able to apply any points to it yet. That's because the game doesn't open up this feature until you've advanced a few hours into the story.

To unlock fast travel, you'll need to work your way through the first few main areas of the game until you reach a boss called the Polluted Platoon Pathfinder. After beating this baddie, you'll soon find yourself teleporting to the Moon Snail's Domain. Here, you'll learn about the power of Umami, as well as unlock access to your skill tree.
