Play as Harley Quinn, Nightwing, and more in Batman: Arkham Knight’s playable characters PC mod

Batman: Arkham Knight - Playable Characters Mod (Free Roam)
Despite consistently high praise from critics who played it on consoles, Batman: Arkham Knight‘s PC launch has been marred by rampant bugs so bad that publisher Warner Bros. opted to stop selling it until the port is more stable. For those hearty PC gamers still braving the game, however, one silver lining for the platform is it modability, exemplified by this mod that allows you to freely rotate between 10 different characters in the game’s free-roam mode.

In addition to being Batman, this mod from Wastelander121 and MrJAG allows you to play as Red Hood, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Robin, Azrael, Bruce Wayne, Catwoman, Commissioner Gordon, GCPD Officer Owens, and The Joker. The change naturally only applies to the free-roaming sections of the game, and not during the main storyline, since it does not replace prerendered scenes and dialogue.

Many of these characters are playable in limited sections of the game, such as Harley Quinn and Red Hood in preorder bonus missions, or Nightwing and Robin during special Dual Play battles where Batman gets to fight alongside an ally. The mod, then, was simply a matter of unlocking these models and animations for playing around during the rest of the game.

You can download the mod here and instructions for how to install and use it can be found in the description of the above YouTube video here.

Batman: Arkham Knight is Rocksteady’s recently released culmination of the era-defining action series it began with Batman: Arkham Asylum. We loved playing it on PlayStation 4, but as lovers of the PC as a gaming platform share your frustration with the terribly implemented port. Rocksteady has assured fans that it is hard at work to correct its mistakes, so we hope that soon PC gamers will be able to join us in this fantastic romp through the rain-slicked streets of Gotham.

This creepy game is a picture-perfect throwback to PS1 horror
Mara walks through an amusement park in Crow Country.

Have you ever found yourself thinking that old video games used to be scarier?

I know I'm in that boat. Nothing creeps me out more than the original Resident Evil or Silent Hill 2. Some newer games might hit me with some extra jump scares, but many titles that really stick in my mind tend to be from older eras. There's one obvious reason for that: I was younger and dumber then. But that only tells half the story. There's something undeniably creepy about 1990s horror games made before the days of photorealism. It's hard to put a severed finger on it, but a new indie game might help.
