Peripheral and accessory maker Logitech had announced it will make a ChillStream game controller for Sony’s forthcoming Playstation 3 gaming console.
Logitech’s ChillStream technology is designed to keep gamer’s hands cool, dry, and well-ventilated by incorporating a super-quiet 40 mm fan in the game controller; the fan can push as much as 3.41 cubic feet of air through three narrow vents on each side of the controller every minute, keeping the fingers, base of the thumb, and palm cool and dry. The PS3 controller will sport three settings—high, low, and off—and will ship in the U.S. and Japan for $39.99 when the Playstation 3 itself goes on sale in November.
"The PLAYSTATION 3 is sure to be a powerful gaming platform and we are pleased to offer a range of peripherals available at launch," said Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech’s director of product marketing for gaming. "And by extending our ChillStream technology to a controller designed for Playstation 3, we are able ensure that gamers will have the best experience and play with one of the most advanced technologies on the market."
In August, Logitech introduced a Chillstream controller for PC games.
The company also wants PS3 gamers to know that several existing Logitech products are compatible with the forthcoming game console, including the Driving Force Pro and Driving Force EX wheels for racing games, and the Logitech USB Headset for Playstation.
