Brabus adds some aggressive style to the 2015 Mercedes C-Class

There’s a new Mercedes-Benz out, which means it’s time for serial Mercedes tuner Brabus to go to work.

From the CLA-Class to the G63 AMG 6×6, Brabus leaves no stone unturned. So it was only a matter of time before the 2015 Mercedes C-Class had its three-pointed star badge replaced with a giant “B.”

Aside from that boastful logo in the grille, the Brabus C-Class gets a more aggressive front fascia with flared air intakes, side skirts with LED puddle lights, and a rear diffuser that encases quad exhaust outlets.

The whole is also lowered on custom Bilstein shocks, and buyers will have their choice of wheels ranging between 18 and 20 inches in diameter.

The interior gets a similarly sporty upgrade, with plenty of Alcantara and leather trim, aluminum pedals, and various Brabus-branded items, including floor mats and door lock pins. Because just the word “Brabus” can make your car go faster.

Speaking of faster, Brabus has a series of engine upgrades ready to go, but only for European models so far.

Its package for the C200 boosts the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to 225 horsepower (a gain of 41 hp) and 243 pound-feet of torque (up 22 lb-ft). That’s enough for a 0 to 62 mph time of seven seconds flat, and a top speed of 150 mph.

For the diesel C220 BlueTEC, Brabus managed to find 218 horsepower (48 hp more than stock) and 332 lb-ft of torque, 37 more than stock. With a 0 to 62 mph time of 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph, the diesel is almost as fast as the Brabus-tuned C200.

Expect similar improvements when Brabus gets its hands on the U.S.-spec C300 and C400 and, further down the road, the next AMG C-Class.

next mercedes amg c63 could ditch v8 for four cylinder hybrid power report says 2020 s coupe

The Mercedes-AMG C63 is defined by its V8 engine. That 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged motor sets this Merc apart from other fast German luxury cars. But Mercedes' AMG performance division could replace the sonorous, tire-smoking V8 with a four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, reports Autocar. Despite decreasing the cylinder count by half, Autocar claims performance won't suffer.

The next-generation C63 will go on sale in early 2022 with a version of Mercedes-AMG's M139 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under its hood, according to Autocar. This is the same engine used in the Mercedes-AMG A45 hatchback, and it makes 416 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque in that car. The A45 isn't sold in the United States, but we will get the same engine in the AMG CLA45 "four-door coupe," albeit tuned to 382 hp and 354 lb.-ft.
