A remastered version of the 2006 survival horror game Dead Rising will soon hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms as part of an upcoming series revival, publisher Capcom confirmed with Eurogamer this week.

Capcom also revealed that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of series sequel Dead Rising 2 and its spinoff Dead Rising 2: Off the Record are in the works, paving the way for the upcoming multiplatform launch of Dead Rising 4.

Rumors of a Dead Rising port began circulating last week when gaming activity tracker Exophase leaked a PlayStation 4 trophy list for the unannounced project. The game’s rumored trophy set mirrors Dead Rising‘s original list of unlockable Xbox 360 achievements, suggesting that Capcom intends to remaster the game rather than develop a fully fledged remake.

Responding to the leak, Capcom revealed that it plans to port Dead Rising to modern consoles and PC platforms, ending its decade-long stint as an Xbox 360 exclusive. Follow-ups Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record are next in line for Capcom’s PS4 and Xbox One porting process, though the publisher already issued Windows PC versions of both games in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

Dead Rising was one of the Xbox 360’s first major successes when it originally hit store shelves in 2006. Putting players in control of quirky journalist Frank West, Dead Rising takes place in an American mall that has been overrun with zombies. Players must use improvised weaponry to fend off the undead hordes as they search for survivors.

Sequel Dead Rising 2 introduced a new starring character and shifted its setting to a zombie-infested Las Vegas. Responding to fan requests, Capcom later issued a revised version of Dead Rising 2 starring returning protagonist Frank West under the new title Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.

Dead Rising 4 will premiere for the Xbox One and PC platforms on December 6. Release dates for the remastered versions of Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2, and Off the Record are not yet known, though a Capcom representative assures Eurogamer that “we will have more news to share soon.”

The debate around GTA 6's "physical" edition just got another twist. Rockstar has confirmed on its official website that PS5 download codes included with physical copies of Grand Theft Auto VI sold in Japan will expire 170 days after the game's November 19, 2026 launch date. That means players who don't redeem the code before roughly May 8, 2027 could be left with nothing more than an empty game box, even though they purchased a physical copy. The company says the policy is required due to regional regulations in Japan.

Fresh off launching a metallic Hall-effect keyboard and a 59g gaming mouse for flashy esports setups, Lenovo has turned its attention to gamers working with much tighter budgets. The Legion 24-1r looks made for broke college students who spent way too much on their first gaming rig and now have instant noodles doing most of the heavy lifting at dinner. It costs just 669 yuan, equivalent to around $99, yet offers a 23.8-inch IPS panel running at up to 280Hz.

Lenovo is also offering the 27-inch Legion 27-1r with the same core specifications for 789 yuan, or roughly $116. For the ramen-budget crowd chasing competitive frame rates, both look like seriously tempting deals. (via NotebookCheck)
