No, your eyes are not deceiving you: The Elephone S7 is a carbon Galaxy S7 Edge copy

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, according to Charles Caleb Colton and others. It is apparent, however, that Mr. Colton never took a peek at the Elephone S7, which, if you take even half a look at it, certainly does more than just flatter.

On the outside, Elephone is quite unapologetic in terms of what makes up its S7’s design DNA. The S7’s dual-curved glass sides, oval-shaped home button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor, and marriage of metal and glass makes the phone appear awfully similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

There are differences, small as they may be — the S7’s rear camera lens is off to the left, while the volume rocker and power button are on the right side. By comparison, the Galaxy S7 Edge features a centered rear camera lens, while the power button sits on the right and the volume rocker on the left. Furthermore, the S7’s display may be curved, but there are unlikely to be features that take advantage of the dual edges.

What the S7 does feature, however, is a 5.5-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 resolution display, with an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front and a 13-megapixel main shooter around back. At the heart of the S7 is a deca-core MediaTek Helip X20 chipset and 3GB RAM, with 32GB of native storage, though it is unknown whether the storage is expandable.

Finally, and most shockingly, the S7 will start at $100, with the price going up to $190 unlocked. Elephone did not say what kind of specifications the different prices entail, but those are impressive price points to hit, especially seeing how the similarly powered Meizu MX6 goes for at least $300.

Elephone also did not mention when the S7 will be available, though the company will release such information relatively soon.
