The wait is over, though, for both the 85mm f/1.4 Art lens, as well as the 500mm f/4 lens in Sigma and Nikon mounts.
Sigma has confirmed its 85mm f/1.4 Art lens is now shipping in Canon, Nikon,u and Sigma mounts through authorized Sigma retailers.
Deemed “the ultimate portrait lens” by Sigma, the 85mm f/1.4 is said to “exceed expectations” by photographer Ihor Balaban, who managed to get his hands on one. Balaban went so far as to say “it’s almost crazy to not give it a shot” considering it retails for $400 less than its Canon and Nikon counterparts, both of which are more than six years old.
Sigma also confirmed its 500mm f/4 Sport super-telephoto lens will be available for Nikon and Sigma mounts starting November 17. Until now, the Sigma’s longest prime super-telephoto in its Global Vision Line of lenses has only been available in Canon mounts, leaving plenty of photographers behind. In less than a week, the lens will be available for all three mounts that it was originally intended to support.
Sigma’s 85mm f/1.4 Art and 500mm f/4 lenses are available now through authorized Sigma retailers for $1,200 and $6,000, respectively.
