Did you know that all whiskey starts out completely clear? Making whiskey is a process that is mysterious to many drinkers, unless you’ve toured distilleries or you know… read about it. The aging process, which takes the alcohol from clear to the more familiar brown, gives the whiskey its flavor and aroma depending on the conditions and time of aging. If you’d like to try taking the process from beginning to end, and have a large store of patience and willpower, Woodinville Whiskey Co. is offering the Age Your Own Whiskey Kit ($TBA) for your enjoyment. The kit comes with two 750 ml bottles of 110-proof un-aged White Dog whiskey, a two-liter aging barrel, two tasting glasses, a pouring funnel, and step-by-step instructions on how to make good whiskey. The tricky part will be waiting three to six months (using your best whiskey judgement) until it is perfected. If the anticipation factor gets you going, the whiskey barrel can be reused five or more times.
