Sharing Spree gives consumers a sweet deal while donating some savings to charity

Perhaps one of the greatest qualities of the Internet is its ability to bring down the price of goods. Daily discount sites like Groupon, LivingSocial and now Google Offers and Facebook Deals have all capitalized on the crowd in an effort to obtain lower prices and better discounts from merchants.

But in the rush of people cutting pennies for themselves, what about using some of that saved cash to help someone or an organization in need? Sharing Spree aims to do just that. Launched in January 2011, the deal site donates between ten to fifteen percent of every deal sold to a school or non-profit like the American Cancer Society & Meals on Wheels to small, local charities just scraping by.

Part of the beauty is that the consumer actually picks their charity. In your user profile, you can select the destination for your saved cash, a great piece of mind when you actually cash in on a deal.

Since January of this year, Sharing Spree has seen traffic growth of about 500 percent, according to internal numbers. Even as a very young company, Sharing Spree has already donated over $163,000 to charity.

The company is still building its deal repertoire so they may not have offers in your area. But it may be worth it to keep them on the radar. In the end, it’s always nice to know that your savings is benefiting someone else.
