Verizon 4G LTE flickers for a day, but should be working again

Since late Tuesday, some users of Verizon’s 4G LTE network have complained that they’ve been bumped down to 2G and 3G service in areas where they normally receive 4G. This is a relatively small issue, as those affected could still make calls and do some browsing, albeit at a much slower speed, but Verizon quickly responded, said it was investigating the issue, and now claims that it has been resolved.

“Verizon Wireless engineers have been working to resolve an issue with 4G LTE service that is affecting some customers’ 4G devices. 3G data and voice devices are unaffected. All customers’ voice calls and text messages continue to go through,” a Verizon representative told AllThingsD yesterday. “We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

And resolve it, they did. We haven’t experienced the issue here in New York, but the issue has now been fixed, Verizon told CNET. If only the carrier would be this responsive when dealing with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, a phone that is rumored to be delayed again with no explanation from Verizon.

Did you experience the 4G outage? If so, has your service returned to normal?

If you’ve slept through an important meeting or missed your alarm lately, it may not be entirely your fault if you’re an iPhone user. For weeks now, iPhone users have been reporting on social media that their devices are no longer ringing.

Today, The Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Stern finally confirmed this. According to Stern, Apple has confirmed that it’s aware of the issue causing some alarms not to play a sound and is working on a fix.
iPhone alarm issues explained
The iPhone alarm problem seems to be tied to Apple’s Attention Aware features. For those unfamiliar, it’s a feature that lowers the volume sound of your alerts and alarms if you’re looking at your device and avoids dimming the screen, similar to how Samsung phones keep the screen on if they see you looking at your screen.
