Laptop Usage Tops 200M Users

According to the report by Computer Industry Almanac, mobile PC usage for 2005 is expected to reach around 230 million systems and over the next five years, these numbers will more than double to over 480 million mobile PC’s in use. This is no doubt due to the lowering price of laptops, including WiFi network adoption.

In the grand scheme of things, laptops are expected to account for over 25% of the total worldwide PC’s being in use in 2005. And by the year 2010, this number will jump to 36% according to the report. We would not be surprised to see this number be a lot higher.

Here in the United States mobile PC market share is already at 30% and will jump to about 43% by 2010. The chart below breaks down mobile PC adoption by year.
