This ultra-portable Samsung Chromebook is $159 right now
This Chromebook features an 11.6-inch screen and an Intel Celeron processor.

If laptop deals are still too expensive for you, you should check out the available Chromebook deals because these machines are generally cheaper than their Windows-based counterparts. Walmart's offer for the Samsung Chromebook 4 is a great example -- from an already affordable sticker price of $189, it's down even further to just $159 following a $30 discount. We're not sure how much time is remaining before the bargain gets taken down though, so if you think this device will be perfect for your planned purpose for it, go ahead and buy it right now.

Why you should buy the Samsung Chromebook 4
The Samsung Chromebook 4 is equipped with the Intel Celeron N4020 processor and 4GB of RAM, which are nowhere near the specifications of the best laptops. However, despite these low-end components, the Chromebook won't be a frustrating experience because it runs on Google's Chrome OS. The operating system heavily depends on web-based apps instead of software that you download and install. This means there's low overhead on the machine itself, resulting in quick startups and snappy performance.

This OLED portable monitor can fold right in half
The ZenScreen Fold next to a laptop.

Laptops with foldable screens have been around for years, but a portable monitor might end up being a more approachable use of the technology. At CES 2024, Asus announced the ZenScreen Fold, a 17.3-inch OLED monitor that can fold up into exactly half that size.

It looks very similar to the ZenBook Fold 17 launched in 2022, but a little slimmed down in thickness and sporting a silver aluminum chassis. It's 0.38 inches thick when unfolded (and 0.76 inches when folded) and weighs 2.65 pounds. In a sense, it'll feel like carrying around a second small laptop with you, but once you sit down and unfold that screen to see its glorious expanse of screen real estate, I'm guessing you won't mind having lugged it in your bag.

My kid needed a new portable charger, so I bought myself this instead
The Anker Prime Power Bank sitting on a desk.

If there's one thing a teenage kid can't live without (and that list seems to grow longer by the month), it's a portable battery to keep their phone charged up. Whether they're in school and have to charge on the sly throughout the day, or if they're running the streets with their friends, or staring into the social abyss that is TikTok, power is at a premium.

And so it was of little surprise when my youngest daughter said her old battery bank just wasn't getting the job done anymore. That left me just one thing to do: As any good father would, I gave her my slim battery that lives in my gear bag. And I took advantage of Anker's Black Friday deals and bought myself something much cooler.
