Sims Sales Top 100 MillionIt seems as if everywhere you look on games shelves, there’s something to do with The Sims. It’s been incredibly successful – but just howsuccessful has been revealed by game maker EA, who revealed that the game has sold 100 million units.   That’s not as much as all the Mario games puttogether (that totals over 200 million), but still a very respectable figure. Then again, The Sims are available in 22 different languages and 60 countries, giving plenty of people the chance to buy.It’s also a huge online community that racks up over four million unique visitors each month – massive by any standards. The greatest popularity is with women, who comprise 60% ofplayers   Rod Humble, studio head for The Sims label, said,   "The Sims has been an interactive experience for people around the globe to explore their passion for creativity, and weare thrilled to be a part of that."   Next year EA will release the long-awaited The Sims 3, and Humble offered a taster:   "In The Sims3, Sims can go beyond theboundaries of their home lot, and immerse themselves in an open, living neighborhood, interacting with other Sims using our new deeper personality system."

Sims players have long been hoping to see horses introduced into The Sims 4, especially after they were initially baked into The Sims 3: Pets expansion pack back in 2011. That long wait is over. The Sims 4’s newest expansion pack, Horse Ranch, brings horses into the current generation of the game with a whole host of new gameplay and storytelling options for horse lovers to dig into.

In a press preview event, several Sims 4 team members, including the production director JoAnna Lio and lead producer George Pigula, walked press members through the expansion pack’s offerings -- from the new world of Chestnut Ridge, building out the perfect ranch, to gameplay mechanics like riding, training, and bonding with horses.

The Sims 4 is now completely free on most platforms. You can play the base version of the iconic life simulator on PC (via the EA app, Origin, and Steam), PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Develporer EA recently revealed that the next Sims title is in development, although it's still a few years away from being released.

The Sims 4: Growing Together adds babies and bladder problems

The Sims 4’s newest expansion pack, Growing Together, is all about family. Initially announced in February, the DLC offers more storytelling options for Sims families -- from familial activities like building a tree house together to new social features that will help create stronger bonds between your Sims.

In a press preview event, several Sims 4 team members including lead designer Scott Dai and lead producer Graham Nardone walked the press through a range of new features and gameplay mechanics that come with the pack including family dynamics, the new world of San Sequoia, and a slew of social interactions and aspirations for all age groups.
