Evolve‘s release might have been shoved back on 2K Games calendar until early 2015, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to play the game at all until then. 2K and developer Turtle Rock Studios confirm that another alpha test is incoming, and that this so-called “Big Alpha” will host a larger group than the last one did.
You’ve got the best shot at getting in if you’re attending PAX Prime 2014. 2K is handing out invitations to register for the alpha at both of its PAX booths (level 4, booths 1414 and 814). Those that didn’t make the trek out to the annual show in Seattle, Wash. aren’t entirely left out, however. Just keep watching Evolve‘s official social channels on Twitter and Facebook, and keep an eye on the Turtle Rock forums. Be patient, you’ll get your shot.

Don’t stress too much if you don’t get into the upcoming alpha, at least not if you’re an Xbox One owner. 2K recently confirmed that the Microsoft console will be the exclusive host of an open beta for the game in January 2015. The coming stretch of months is lousy with major video game releases, so it’s not like those that miss the alpha will want for things to play.
Evolve was originally due to arrive in October 2014, but 2K and Turtle Rock recently decided to push the release back, to give the dev time to really polish off the game. It’s now coming on February 10, 2015 to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
