Updated on 01-09-2015 by Williams Pelegrin: ZTE committed a press release error, with the price of the Imperial II actually $150 instead of $100. The article below has been updated to reflect this change.

Hot off the heels of its recent logo change, ZTE continues its steady takeover of the United States with the announcement of the Imperial II, which will be available through U.S. Cellular.

As the successor to 2013’s ZTE Imperial, the Imperial II changes things up a bit with its larger, 5-inch, 960 x 540 pixel resolution screen. According to a survey conducted by the company, 83 percent of its customers wanted a larger display, so that’s what ZTE gave them. However, only 22 percent of those surveyed wanted to pay a higher price for the larger screen. To satisfy customers, ZTE worked to keep the costs down, even as it increased the screen size.

Moving past the display, the Imperial II is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2GHz quad-core processor, which is most likely a Snapdragon 400 chip, paired with 1GB of RAM. You’ll only find 8GB of storage onboard, though the MicroSD card slot allows you to expand that space up to 32GB.

ZTE’s Imperial II runs Android 4.4.2 and sports a 2,300mAh battery. You can snap pictures with the 5-megapixel camera on the back of the device.

The star of the show, however, is clearly not the phone’s specifications — it’s the price tag. At only $150 off-contract, we’d be lying if we said the Imperial II doesn’t offer a great bang for your buck. If paying $100 outright isn’t an option for you, the handset is also available for free with a two-year contract on U.S. Cellular.

The Honor Magic 6 RSR is my new favorite Android phone of 2024
Someone holding the Honor Magic 6 RSR outside.

There's no doubt that 2024 has already been an exciting year for Android phones. Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
