The Innos D6000 has not just one, but two, count ’em, two, batteries

On the outside, the Innos D6000 looks like any typical Android smartphone made by a Chinese smartphone maker that, odds are, you’ve never heard of. It’s when you take a peek inside that you begin to see what sets the D6000 apart from just about any other phone: It has two batteries.

No, your eyes are not fooling you. The D6000’s marquee feature is the fact that it has both a removable 3,500mAh battery and an embedded 2,500mAh battery. In total, we’re looking at a whopping 6,000mAh, a claim that no other smartphone can make. However, the D6000 doesn’t use both batteries at the same time. Instead, the handset was created to prioritize the external battery, and only uses the internal battery when the other runs out of juice.

To charge up the batteries, the D6000 incorporates a port not many smartphones have: a Type-C Micro USB port. In other words, the port is fully reversible, so you can insert the Type-C Micro USB cable either upright or upside down. The port charges both batteries simultaneously, with only 120 minutes allegedly needed to fully charge the packs.

Hardware-wise, we have a 5.2-inch 1080p screen that shows a skinned version of Android 4.4.4 KitKat. It’s all powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset and 2GB of RAM. You’ll find a 16-megapixel OmniVision camera on the back and a 5-megapixel shooter on the front. Finally, given the two batteries inside of the D6000, it’s not exactly svelte at 12mm thick.

Unsurprisingly, the Innos D6000 will only be sold in China for around the equivalent of $280. Of course, you can always import the handset through an online re-seller.
