Specifications are relatively humble, with the G Pad F 8.0 powered by the same quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM that powered last year’s G Pad 8.0. Up front is the tablet’s 8-inch, 1,280 x 800 panel which, while not having the highest of resolutions, is laminated under the display through LG’s One Glass Solution and Zero Gap technologies. You’ll also find a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front, while a5-megapixel camera can be found on the back.
The tablet includes 16GB of storage, though that can be expanded by up to 128GB with the Micro SD card slot. Finally, the 4,200mAh battery should keep the lights on for up to nine-and-a-half hours of use.
All in all, the G Pad F 8.0 seems to be following in the footsteps of last year’s G Pad 8.0 in that it appears to cater to a budget-minded crowd, even if it does differentiate itself from its predecessor by including a stylus and a full-size USB port.
That budget-focused mentality is apparent in the price. Starting May 29, you can buy the G Pad F 8.0 for $0 down and $12.50 per month through an AT&T Tablet Installment plan. If you opt to go for the two-year contract route, the tablet can be yours for $150. You can also add the G Pad F 8.0 to an existing Mobile Share Value plan for $10 per month.
Whether the tablet is enough to maintain LG’s profile in the tablet space is to be determined, though the company continues to make huge strides in that space.
