They’ve done it again. This time, Lifetime had plenty more roles to fill in looking to cast its upcoming unauthorized biography on ‘90s primetime drama, Melrose Place. Now the seats have been filled, and we get a look at the actors who will be playing our favorite California hunks and babes.

As the follow-up show to Beverly Hills 90210 (which, by the way, is also getting the Lifetime unauthorized biography treatment alongside other ‘90s hits like Full House and Saved by the Bell), Melrose Place followed a group of young professionals and their shenanigans which often included betrayal, fights, rumours, and sexual liasons. Off screen, however, the drama may not have stopped, and this biography will take a peek into some of those antics.

The show went through a number of cast swaps, including the most notable addition of Heather Locklear, who has often been credited with saving the show from cancellation with her ability to play the super villain before The Real Housewives even existed. But it served as a launchpad for the careers of many breakout stars, including Doug Savant and Marcia Cross, who both moved on to Desperate Housewives in the ‘00s, and Kristin Davis who became one of the iconic foursome from Sex and the City.

Lifetime chose to cast for a dozen of the most prolific characters. Ciara Hanna has the tough role of filling Heather Locklear’s shoes as Amanda Woodward. Joining her will be Rebecca Dalton as Courtney Thorne-Smith (in the role of Allison Parker); Frank Bailey as Andrew Shue (Billy Campbell); Ryan Bruce as Grant Show (Jake Hanson); Chloe McClay as Josie Bissett (Jane Mancini); Ali Cobrin as Daphne Zuniga (Jo Reynolds); Teagan Vincze as Marcia Cross (Kimberly Shaw); Joseph Coleman as Doug Savant (Matt Fielding); Brandon Barash as Thomas Calabro (Michael Mancini); Karissa Tynes as Vanessa A. Williams (Rhonda Blair); Chelsea Hobbs as Laura Leighton (Sydney Andrews); and Lanie McAuley as Amy Locane (Sandy Louise Harding.) Yeah, it’s a big cast.

Howard Braunstein is serving as executive producer alongside Michael Larkin, and Christian Bruyere as producer. Dana Schmalenberg will be writing. Both Braunstein and Bruyere are also involved with the 90210 biography as well.

According to Variety, the first of these unauthorized biographies on Saved by the Bell, did not perform in the ratings despite the buzz it caused. With the Full House biography set to air on August 22, and both Beverly Hills and Melrose Place planned for October (3 and 10th, respectively), along with these hilarious casting photos, they might just gain some ratings attention this time around. The latter two shows were certainly far more dramatic than the former two, and may pique viewers’ interests a little more. Stay tuned.

10 best action-comedies of all-time, ranked
Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon.

While straight action films like John Wick are far from extinct, it's the action comedies that tend to become the popular box office hits. Movie fans just love to laugh at the funny parts while enjoying the accompanying action. Not every action comedy is created equal, and Hollywood has admittedly gone to the well with the buddy-cop movies a little bit too often.

This weekend, The Fall Guy is the latest action comedy to attempt to give the genre some fresh blood, even though it's technically based on a TV series from the '80s that has largely been forgotten. Regardless, that's as good a reason as any to update our list of the best action comedies of all time. It would be too easy to load up this list with films from the '80s and '90s, when action comedies were at their peak. However, we've also saved some slots for more recently released action comedies that deserve some recognition as well.

If you have to watch one Hulu movie in May 2024, stream this one
Tom Hanks in Cast Away.

It's a new month, and that means new movies on Hulu. And somebody over there really loves Tom Hanks. Because in this month alone, Hulu is adding Hanks' directorial debut, That Thing You Do, one of his most iconic films, Big, and one of his most recent hits, Elvis. But if we had to choose only one Hulu movie to stream in May 2024, then our pick is another Tom Hanks movie: Cast Away.

Robert Zemeckis directed the film from a script by William Broyles Jr. It cast Hanks as Chuck Noland, a FedEx employee who survives a plane crash in the Pacific ocean, only to find himself stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere without anyone to turn to but himself. Cast Away was actually a big hit in late 2000 and during the early part of 2001, earning $429.6 million worldwide. That may not have translated into Oscar gold for two-time Best Actor winner Hanks, but Cast Away is an unforgettable film that deserves a new audience nearly 24 years after it hit theaters.
