Last August, Archos decided to announce several smartphones ahead of the IFA tech show in Berlin, and this year, it’s done it again. Archos revealed a pair of devices running Google’s Android, as well as a Windows 10 Mobile smartphone.

Starting with the 50 Cesium and the 50e Helium, these two handsets share the exact same specifications, with the only difference being the operating system. The former is powered by Windows 10 Mobile, while the latter opts for Android 5.1 Lollipop. As such, the two phones are powered by a quad-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, which is paired with 1GB of RAM.

Both handsets feature dual SIM card support, as well as a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion up to 32GB to make up for the measly 8GB of internal storage that’s built into the device. Around front, you’ll find a 5-inch, 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution IPS display, with a 2-megapixel camera sitting above it. Turning the handsets over reveals an 8-megapixel camera, which isn’t the best, but should take adequate pictures. Meanwhile, the 2,100mAh battery keeps the phones running all day long. These two budget devices will sell for £100 each.

Finally, we have the Diamond S, the more impressive offering out of the three smartphones Archos announced. The Diamond S is powered by an octa-core, 1.5GHz Mediatek MT6753 processor and 2GB of RAM. The 16GB of internal storage gives you more breathing room, though you can expand that by up to 32GB with the MicroSD card slot.

You’ll find the same resolution screen on the front, though the Diamond S swaps out the IPS panels found in the 50 Cesium and 50e Helium for Samsung’s contrast-rich Super AMOLED panel. Above the display sits an 8-megapixel camera, while a 16-megapixel camera rests in the back of the Diamond S. This camera duo should offer up much better results. Finally, the phone has a 2,300mAh battery to power you through the day. The Diamond S will cost you £160, but it’s not a bad price for a budget phone.

We expect to see the phones once IFA 2015 kicks off on September 2 in Berlin.

The Honor Magic 6 RSR is my new favorite Android phone of 2024
Someone holding the Honor Magic 6 RSR outside.

There's no doubt that 2024 has already been an exciting year for Android phones. Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
