The phones continue to get bigger, but apparently the price tags are still get smaller, at least for some models. The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL has a 5.5-inch display, but more importantly, it won’t break the bank. This Android phone is coming soon to MetroPCS and T-Mobile for only $140 off contract.

The Fierce XL is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, and has 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of internal storage, and you can add an extra 32GB with a MicroSD card. The display comes in with a resolution of 720p, which translates to 1,280 x 720 pixels.

The rear camera is 8 megapixels, while the front-facer comes in at 2 megapixels. What’s really cool about the camera experience is the Polaroid mode that will give you that old-fashioned instant camera look through the use of filters. For those of you too young to remember that, it’s those squarish photos with a white border. This mode allows you to not only add the classic white border to your photos, but to also add the Polaroid classic border logo, as well as date, location, and text tags. There’s even a collage maker allowing users to combine multiple shots on one layout.

Rounding out the specs include LTE, HD voice, voice over LTE (VoLTE), Wi-Fi calling, 2,500mAh battery, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

The press release also mentions that the Fierce XL has “enhanced Google Translate features,” but it didn’t go into specifics as to what that means. We suspect it just means that Google Translate comes pre-installed on the phone.

The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL lands on MetroPCS on November 2, and will hit T-Mobile closer to the holidays. The display in the image above shows November 30, so that might be a strong hint as to when T-Mobile will start selling it.
