If you’re looking for a cheap way to waste some time and vent some anger, download Prank My Ride.

Available for free on iTunes, it’s an app that allows you to “destroy” the cars of people you hate – or friends you just want to prank – with a little photo-editing sleight of hand.

Just take a photo of the target car and go to work.

You can add key scratches, dents, and other forms of damage, or even show a car get booted for an imaginary parking violation. Police or firefighters can be added to the scene for that little bit of extra drama.

Of course, simply pasting fake flames over a photo of someone’s car doesn’t exactly make for a convincing fake image. It’s unlikely that these photos will fool anyone, but then again what more do you expect at this price?

Actually pranking people is probably out of the question; instead of being fooled into running outside to check on their cars, they may just assume you’re threatening them.

So if your appetite for automotive destruction must be dealt with, check out Prank My Ride. But keep those revenge fantasies to yourself.

Or better yet, just find something productive to do.

You can now buy a Porsche online, but still have to take delivery at a dealer

Porsche is testing online car sales in the United States, but it's still keeping traditional dealerships in the loop. Unlike Tesla, which ruffled feathers by launching online sales backed only by company-owned stores, Porsche is running a pilot program in concert with 25 of its 191 U.S. franchised dealerships. Customers can order a car online, but still have to pick it up at one of those dealerships.

The pilot program applies to new and used cars that are already in stock at participating dealerships. Payment calculations, trade-in valuation, and financing are all handled online through a dealership's website. Customers can upload photos of the necessary documents, as well as photos of the car they plan to trade in, if applicable. However, customers still need to go to a brick-and-mortar dealership for "final signatures" on paperwork, and to collect their cars, according to a Porsche press release.

Why you can’t buy Car Thing, Spotify’s first hardware device

We've been following rumors for months now that all said that Spotify would soon launch some kind of in-car device. Turns out, those rumors were right. Well, sort of. In a frustrating development, it turns out that Spotify's first device, which it is calling "Car Thing," isn't a consumer gadget in the traditional sense, and the company has no plans to sell it.

Instead, Car Thing is apparently Spotify's in-car equivalent of the old Nielsen's TV ratings boxes that used to track people's TV watching habits. In a blog post about the device, the company says it is, "trying to learn more about people’s listening habits and preferences," specifically while they're in the car. So it will be distributing Car Thing to a limited number of its Premium subscribers and only in the U.S., to find out exactly what's going on when listeners are on the road.
